1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using TripSplit ("the App"), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
TripSplit is a mobile application that helps users track shared expenses during group trips. The service includes features for:
- Creating and managing trips
- Recording and categorizing expenses
- Calculating bill splits among group members
- Generating expense reports and summaries
- Managing trip itineraries and checklists
3. User Accounts
3.1 Account Creation
To use certain features, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
3.3 Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in fraudulent activity.
4. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Use the App only for lawful purposes
- Not misrepresent expense information or manipulate data
- Respect the privacy and data of other users
- Not attempt to hack, reverse engineer, or compromise the App's security
- Not use the App to harass, abuse, or harm others
- Not upload malicious content or viruses
5. Data and Content
5.1 Your Content
You retain ownership of all data and content you create in the App (trip details, expenses, photos, etc.). By using the App, you grant us a license to store, process, and display your content to provide the service.
5.2 Accuracy of Information
While we strive to ensure accurate calculations, you are responsible for verifying all expense amounts and splits. We are not liable for financial disputes arising from data entry errors.
5.3 Data Backup
While we implement backup systems, we recommend you maintain your own records of important financial information.
6. Payment and Financial Transactions
TripSplit does not process actual payments or financial transactions. The App only tracks and calculates who owes what to whom. All actual payments must be arranged independently between users.
7. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, features, and content (excluding user-generated content), is owned by TripSplit and protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without permission.
8. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with third-party services (Firebase, Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In). Use of these services is subject to their respective terms and conditions.
9. Advertisements
The App may display advertisements. We are not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements or the practices of advertisers.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not guarantee that:
- The App will be error-free or uninterrupted
- All calculations will be 100% accurate
- Data will never be lost (though we use secure backup systems)
- The App will meet your specific requirements
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TripSplit SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Financial disputes between users
- Data loss or corruption
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TripSplit from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these terms.
13. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review it to understand how we collect and use your information.
14. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
16. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or use of the App shall first be attempted to resolve through good faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be subject to binding arbitration.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
